Check out this website!! It’s called Spaghetti Book Club. You can find a bunch of book recommendations from kids just like you. Maybe you’ll get inspired to read one of these books!
Boys and girls, this is your chance to recommend a great book to your classmates. As one of the homework menu options, you can now post your recommendation on this blog instead of emailing it to me. I will post an example of a book recommendation from one of our own. I hope to see lots of recommendations in both Spanish and English.
Example of a book recommendation
Dear Mrs. Sandoval,
The story I read this week was Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. First, a house elf named Dobby tries to frighten Harry away from Hogwarts. Then, students are being petrified by a mysterious culprit. in addition, Harry and Ron go into the Chamber to find Ron’s little sister, Ginny. In conclusion, Harry kills the beast who’s been petrifying everyone and everything goes back to normal. It’s a very fun book with action-adventure, and mystery. Me and my friends are all reading the Harry Potter books right now. I would recommend this book to everyone I know. If you like suspension, magic, and adventure, this is the book for you.
Dear Sra. Sandoval,
I think the book that the whole class should read and LIKE it is the book A Whole Nother Story. This book is about Mr. Cheeseman an inventor and his three children… 2 years ago Ethan (also called Mr.Cheeseman) and his wife, Olivia invented something amazing the LRV a time traveling device. But the word got out and soon government agents, weapon companies and secret spy’s started showing u on the doorstep offering money for it but Olivia always denied. The weapon company also a microwave company Plexiwave went a different way they had to get rid of Olivia so they did the only thing that would permanently get rid her they eliminated her also called murdering. From that day on Ethan and his kids, Magneta Jean , Jough (pronounced Joe), Crandall and Steve the sock puppet (Crandall’s best Friend) have been on the run from Plexiwave people, government agents and a super spy oh and did I mention a chimp.Their real names are Saffron 12, Barton 14, Crandall 7 and Steve the sock puppet, they have a dog too her name is Pinky oh and she can sense danger. They meet a old circus group that really is a group of pirates and they are Olivia’s ancestors but that’s a whole nother story, and a cowboy that wants to be a poet. They finally find a town and decided to settle in it but they find out to late to late that the bad people are there all ready and they take Ethan and Crandall so Saffron and Barton go and save the day with the help of the circus group in return for a ride in the time traveling machine back to 1668… the rest of the story is in the second book A Nother Whole Nother Story. I hope the class will LOVE this book like I did!!!
Dear Mrs. Sandoval,
A story I read this week was a book called “Becoming Naomi León” by Pam Muñoz Ryan. It is about a girl named Naomi Outlaw. She is always made fun of because of her last name. She lives with her Gram and her little brother Owen. But then one day their mother who they have not seen in over seven years comes back. Skyla (her mother’s name) tries to get along with her children, but it seem that she only wants Naomi not Owen.
She brings presents for Naomi and buys a bike for Owen but then BAM; she wants Naomi to move with her and her boyfriend to Las Vegas. But Naomi refuses to go, so her mother abuses her. Then Naomi can’t tell anyone that her mother had trouble with rehabilitation or it will get worse. So her Gram takes them to Mexico to hide from Skyla and to find their father.
“I got temporary guardianship over you and Owen” Gram told Naomi. Gram thought Skyla would be a terrible mother so they had to leave. But their mother could take them back because they belonged to her. Luck strikes when they find the children’s father. Of course they went in to court because Skyla discovered they were gone. But Naomi tells them the truth. She learns how speak up and how to stand up to people.
The class should read this book because it’s entertaining; it’s worth 6.0 points in A.R and is 5.4 in level. I think it’s a wonderful book because of how the character describes all that happened in detail. It made me feel like Naomi. Thank you for listening to what I have to say.
